When visiting Yosemite with my husband and kids a couple of years ago, we drove the few extra hours to Mono Lake, only to be greeted with TORRENTIAL rain and lightning. We were told that it was the first rain locals had seen in 3 months! We waited in the visitors' center for over an hour and it was getting dark; the rain was not letting up and the lightning was incessant. We turned around and made the LONG drive back to San Francisco, NEVER seeing these tufa formations! :(
Thanks for sharing such beautiful views... Perhaps someday I'll return.
