A bristlecone pine that is more than a millennium old. I found this ancient tree in the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area of Colorado.

I would think being that old it would be a little bigger! I really enjoyed your gallery. Any advice for taking pictures in the fog (shutter speed, aperture, etc.)

Jan Forseth 		  Hi, Mike. This tree was at 11,540 feet in elevation. At that altitude, they are subjected to a very short growing season, because most of the year they are in snow, and not much oxygen up there. They tend to be stunted and also bent from the high winds.
This particular photo was taken at f/16, 1/200th of a second. Sometimes it can be hard to focus in fog, so if that occurs, you might wish to switch to manual focus (although that wasn't necessary in this case).
