A bristlecone pine that is more than a millennium old. I found this ancient tree in the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area of Colorado.

Hi, Mike. This tree was at 11,540 feet in elevation. At that altitude, they are subjected to a very short growing season, because most of the year they are in snow, and not much oxygen up there. They tend to be stunted and also bent from the high winds.Diane L. Thomas March 07, 2007
