Metamorphosis (Ancient Pictograph)
This is a most important pictograph painted on the wall of a shelter I visited 2 weekends ago. This is the most northern and most western of the Pecos River Style painting and is on private land that has not been visited in over 50 years but very few of us were allowed as the first to visit and photograph the site. This pictograph is on the ceiling and I had to lie on my back in animal dung to get this capture. It is a one of a kind and shows a metamorphosis from the top right around to left.

Using special techniques to my digital photography I converted the original image into lds color space and you can more easily see the metamorphosis from small right top to left top. Also note there is a connection from the central zoomorph to the last two animal figures on the top left. We are in the process of trying to understand the significance of this very unique and unusual one of a kind pictograph. Any thoughts!!!

Due to obvious reasons I can not reveal the location of this site as it is too important to preserve. I felt very lucky to be able to get to a place that no one has ever photographed.

An amazing capture, Emile, what an opportunity! The detail is wonderful and also like the enhancement in the Ids color space image.

This entry goes way back, Emile, but then, the pictograph goes back considerably further!
Fascinating images and techniques you used. And what a true photographer, to lie down on dung to capture this insect in its many stages. Excellent work!
