Texas Horned Lizzard
Texas Horned Lizzard
Captured at Fort Meyers. This is the Official Texas State Reptile and is often also called Texas Horned Toad. It is usually 2.5 to 4 inches long, easily blends in with its surroundings, lays on the ground during the day and buries itself in the sand at night. It primary diet is ants. It can squirt blood from its eyes and the corners of its mouth as a defense mechanism.

I love how you spot lighted this amazing creature Emile. I have seen on Nat Geo how they squirt that blood out of their eye. That is so cool to see. He looks like one vicious little fella who will take a stand. A gorgeous look at him my friend.

I'm not sure I'd like that blood squirting, Emile, but otherwise, he's pretty cute.
