Texas Horned Lizzard

Captured at Fort Meyers. This is the Official Texas State Reptile and is often also called Texas Horned Toad. It is usually 2.5 to 4 inches long, easily blends in with its surroundings, lays on the ground during the day and buries itself in the sand at night. It primary diet is ants. It can squirt blood from its eyes and the corners of its mouth as a defense mechanism.
