Beautiful picture!! I'm an amatuer photographer and love to learn new techniques. I don't know the best way to get a picture of lighting. Could you give a quick synopsis on how to do this. #128515

Hi all,

Thanks for your comments. The effect was created by choosing a slow shutter speed and zooming the lens as the exposure happened. It takes a great deal of simple experimentation and a fun-loving attitude... you never know what you are going to get exactly. I was thrilled with this result, because the white stage lights, when zoomed, looked like lightning.

Thanks again! #871221

I very much consider myself an amateur, but I took photography for three yrs in school, this is what we would have called a "motion picture" like u said slowing down the shutter speed and moving the camera as little or as much as you want, but my question is what was the picture of, beautiful colors, was it just street lights or somewhere imparticular? #1002780

Hi Carlie,

Sorry - I forgot to mention that, I guess. It is a singer/pianist at a concert. If you look hard, you can make out his head near the center. #1002978
