HI all-working on composition a little more and actually got my camera out for the first time in a month. I was using my tripod earlier in the day, and never turned the VR back on-this was handheld, so there is a little camera shake that bugs me. Not sure what I can to do fix it... #1556317

Elaine, I can’t see any problems in this small version, but I am sure in your original it must be there enough to see. There are some things you can do. Smart Sharpen has a motion blur setting that you can play with. You adjust the pixel offset and the direction of the movement. The new CC version of PS has an actual camera shake filter. I usually don’t work with either though as the results are still not what I like in my shots although you can achieve some good improvement. In the case of this shot the movement must be very slight so you might get good results. #10924020

I don't see any problems either with the camera shake. Looks cold! #10924163

Elaine, I like this very much! I don't see any camera shake either. #10924259

I don't see the shake. I do like the way the water takes you through the scene.. It looks cold and my guess is this photo looks about the same in color as black and white, but I like the black and white version. #10924273

Any movement is not visible in this size image, so not an issue. Would suggest lightening the highlights a bit to show off the snow detail better.

Also, the trees indicate that the image is tilted and it appears so visually as well. Even if you knew this to be level (because of a tripod leveler for instance) I would still suggest correcting it for a more pleasing virtual horizon. #10924336

I really like the composition and overall mood of this image, Elaine. I agree on the slight tilt, but I think it is good otherwise. #10924341

I like this too Elaine and although I took a screen capture and blew it up to 400% my old eyes aren't detecting any evidence of camera shake.
But I am thinking that my good friends Dale and Jeff are hoping I see their comments re tilt and will get a rise out of me. I think I have wasted half and hour looking through the forest and although there are trees falling over at 45 degrees, trees laying on the ground and lots of twisted, curvy bent ones I am not seeing a single one that even pretends to be straight. LOL #10924843

You never fail me Peter. I was beginning to worry if you'd lost your repartee. :o)

As I mentioned to Elaine above, it's all about perception. Doesn't make any difference if the trees are crooked (which they are) but whether they "look" crooked.

Of course you knew that when you realized we had gotten a rise out of you. :o) #10924867

Aaargg! I am going to take a pill and go to bed. Perhaps tomorrow will be better. #10924872

Wow-I can't believe I didn't see that! And crooked horizons make me nuts! I made the fixes-hopefully there is a little more detail in the snow now, and the picture looks more level. #10924915

I forgot-I wanted to share two more photos with you from that snowy day. #10924924

I can see why you guys like to take snow images. It is such a clean and lovely view of the world. #10925063

Yes, absolutely pristine. The big plan this year is to rent cross country skis here in jan or February and get some nice landscape shots. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! #10925223

Jeff E Jensen December 19, 2013

These are nice, Elaine. The edit worked well.

We aren't making our annual Christmas Yurt expedition, we missed the registration. So, I'm going to have to find some opportunities to get out and shoot some winter scenes. #10925257

Beth Spencer December 19, 2013

I like the other two also especially the bench #10925713

Elaine Hessler December 20, 2013

Thanks everyone! From what I saw on the weather today, Jeff, I don't think you will need to go anywhere to see some winter scenery! Stay warm! BTW, they featured in our local paper a mystery Xmas tree in the Wasatch Mountains that has been decorated the past six years, but no one knows who does the decorating. It is on the side of a road on private property. The owner has no idea who does the decorating either, and at the end of the year, the decorations are removed. Do you know of this tree? #10925909

Jeff E Jensen December 20, 2013

Huh, that is interesting. I had not heard of this tree. #10925986
