Thanks, guys!I needed something to shoot tonight and was feeling inspired by Mike's recent daffodil image so I grabbed a couple of flowers out of the bunch I got for my wife last week and fired away. Here's another version. #10654078

Love the top one and the b & w. Great details and comp. Sweet! #10654586Dale Hardin April 15, 2013
Like them Jeff, and this is quite a departure for you. In case anyone is wondering, Jeff was experimenting with lighting and has more samples of the differences on his blog. #10655338Beth Spencer April 16, 2013
Great shots!! #10656266Rita K. Connell April 16, 2013
great shot jeff I like the black and white the best because it show more of the detail in the middle of the flower more than the color one, there something about the lighting... is it a flash... its something like mike's flower, can't pin it. the lighting is off for me. #10656360Peter W. I am not with the others Jeff. The B&W looks very flat on my monitor but I do like the bright, saturated color of the 'yellow,(orange to me) version. #10657934Debbie E. Payne April 20, 2013
Jeff --I like the yellow one best. So bright and sunny. But I do agree that there is more detail to be had in the black and white version. #10660398Elaine Hessler April 20, 2013
Very nice! I am trying to learn more about using flash. Was it offset in the first picture? And did you decrease the intensity? Just curious. I also like the white flower. How did you manage to get it to stand out from the white background? #10660730Jeff E Jensen April 20, 2013
Sorry it's taken son long to get back to y'all, it's been a busy week.Glad to see so many opinions :o)
Elaine - I used two flashes, one to either side at different power levels. Usually in the 1/32 to 1/16 range. For the white image, I fired a third flash at the backdrop at a little higher power and it did a nice job of separating things. #10660788

Cool! It looked too good to be one flash at full power. I've got a lot to learn! #10660789Jeff E Jensen April 20, 2013
I fiddled around with the B&W version a bit. #10660818Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
