I was just having fun with a bouquet of flowers the other day that a friend brought over for me. Used the tripod and my flash unit to get these shots. #1502740

Very nice macro work Debbie. Did you use TTL flash or manual settings? I assume the flash was off camera as well. #10458045

Thank you, Dale. I had my flash o ETTL with a series of negative settings so they wouldn't look like deer in the headlight. I had nice soft window light on my dining room and for the most part I used small apertures to maximize the DOF. Sadly, for the most part I had it on camera with a white cap over it. #10458093

These are excellent, Debbie! Very nice work. #10459315

These are beautiful. My favorite is the first-I love the detail of the pollen grains-everything that should be in focus is sharp. I also like the backlit petals-they appear to glow. Would you mind sharing the f stop and lens/focal length you used? I need to practice more macro shots! #10459481

Thank, Elaine. The first one , of these three, was the longest time at 1 second, middle one was 0.4 sec. At f/13 and the last one was the shortest at 1/10 of a second with f/8. All had an ISO of 100 and flash field on all three as well. I have been trying to get used to my flash unit which I've had for a long time. #10459551

The first one is my favorite Debbie, but couldn't say exactly why. #10460571

these are great debbie you really did a nice job working with the flash. I should try it also. I am terrible when comes to using a flash. I usually avoid it if at all possible.

I really don't have a favorite I like them all for different reasons. the clarity is very very nice.

I hope all is going well since your surgery. #10461046

These are great Debbie. I really love the first one. You captured the detail so well. #10461087

It can be a lot of fun just playing to see what you can get. Great job on these. I like all the texture in backgrounds and would hate to lose any of it. But on your original post, it seems just a little too centered. While I'd like to the see the image shifted to the right so that the stamen were close to the left ROT line I don't think adding more of the really bright background would help...unless maybe you use a gradient to reduce hilites. Otherwise may be an 4:5 crop with more taken off the right than the left? #10461184
