Definitely a difference...congrats on going RAW! I have no idea why Picassa changed the setting, but the ISO is from the camera, like shutter speed and F stop. The software can't change these. True, maybe the text characters said 262 but that's probably a glitch in the Picaso versus the camera's ISO. #8564754

Wow, this is excellent Usman. Gorgeous colors and details.

Once I learned to shoot in RAW, I never looked back. I'm glad you decided to give it a try. I like to edit my images in Bridge, Photoshop CS4 and Digital Photo Professional. I have never used Picassa, so I can't help you there. I know that Patrick Rouzes uses that program. Maybe he can help you!

Good luck,

Wow! What a difference. I agree with everyone: the clarity is superb, the colors and tonality lovely and you created wonderful DOF and composition!

My raw captures always have more tonality, sharpness and clarity than the JPGs out of the camera--even when my images are not as sharp as yours or my processing as beautiful.

Adobe Camera Raw, from what I understand, changes the size from 8 bits to 16 bits in the conversion process (if its preset that way) and those extra bits worked in ACR as well as in photoshop, more detail, can be obtained. Bigger or more expensive cameras have even more data than mine. The more data in, the information you have with which to process your image.

Don't forget to change it back to 8 bits when using certain software plug-ins, or when saving it to your hard drive because it takes up tons of space.

Looks like you've proven to yourself and any non-believers that raw is better. #8566148

Great work here, Usman! These colors are fantastic. I don't completely understand the principles of RAW other than the fact that there seems to be allot more usable information. So I us it. Looking through your gallery is humbling. You have mastered the use of Photoshop with a subtle style, which is VERY appealing to me. I have PS but have not yet learned to use it. You have inspired me to do so. #10376977
