Extraordinary use of HDR, Jeff!! The image looks the same as the human eye would see this scene without being exaggerated.My personal take on lens flares is that if, as an element of the image, it contributes favorably to the image it is acceptable, if it creates a distraction, obviously it is not.
In the case of this image, IMHO, it contributes positively.
