What are Stock Lists? I have been looking at selling some stock photography. There are a couple of companies that I am looking to sell to but they want a stock list. Is that just a list of photos that I have in my portfollio or the ones that I am willing to sell to them if they are interested?

Hi Frederick, At first approach, stock agencies generally want a list of subjects that you have on inventory (usually they want you to have dozens, if not hundreds, of examples of each subject you list. Stock agencies are all about bulk supply). For the stock list, you should summarize these. For example, you might list: Birds of the Southeastern United States Or whatever else your subjects of interest might be. Hope this helps and best of luck, Jason

Stock photography is an interesting but complex issue. I wrote two articles about it a couple of years ago and these cover most of the issues. (These web pages can be slow to load because the articles are long.) http://photos8.msn.com/editorial/EditorialStart.phpx?article=SellingStockPhotographsPart1§ion=NOTEBOOKS http://photos8.msn.com/editorial/EditorialStart.phpx?article=SellingStockPhotographsPart2§ion=NOTEBOOKS Cheers! Thanks for the info. It helps a lot, I just wasn't sure what it was exactly that it was that they are looking for.
