Printing I am preparing to have about 10-11 images printed about 11x14 for a home gallery wall. Which printing companies have people had success with? Can anyone recommend a printer where I can upload photos to that yield professional results? Also, has anyone tried printing on canvas and would you recommend this?

Beverly, I have been very happy with the quality at MPIX.com. I have had 11x14 prints done there. They offer canvas but I have not tried it yet. I would also be interested in how it turns out. But, I would suspect that they would do a great job, they sure do with their other printing.

Thank you Linda. MPIX was one of the printers I was looking at online. I'm glad to hear that you were happy with the results. They suggest that you do not sharpen, use srgb workspace and upload as jpgs rather than tiffs. I have sharpened my images and worked on them in RGB, so I'm wondering what will happen when I have them printed by them. And I thought the canvas idea sounded interesting..Anyone out there ever print on canvas? Would love to hear about the results.

do not get your canveses printed at MPIX! They are AWFUL!!! I love mpix for everything else, but the canvas sucks! They just take a print and then press it onto the canvas. If you are wanting a fine art result, try to find a company that actually applies the ink to the canvas. Some good choices are WHCC's fine art canvas, Simply Canvas, and Finerworks.com. I have heard good things about all of these companies. Again, MPIX is great for everything else except their canvas!

Mellanie, thank you...you may have saved me from a printing disapointment! Have you used these other companies for fine art paper prints as well as canvas? I'm not sure what to print them on as this is a project I am working on for a home gallery wall. I'd like the best possible fine art look. Any suggestions?

I have bought canvas prints from http://www.photosprintedoncanvas.com They have great prices and they use the glicee process for printing. For an 11x14 it's $19.95! Of course, it's unstretched at that price, but you can also get that done there. :) Good luck finding what you need!

Beverly, I haven't had any fine art prints made up. I know of several photogs who use WHCC and swear by them! After my bad luck at mpix, i'm kind of leary of spending the money! Though I know that there are some great companies out there! I've seen many photos of peoples results from simplycanvas.com and they are awesome.

Thanks Mellanie for your advice. I'm off to simplycanvas to see what they have to offer. I'm not sure I want to order in canvas or in fine art paper, but I will look at WHCC as well. Thanks again for you input...really helps to avoid mistakes.
