Jules, Don't know what you intend by "best" distance. I presume you mean "farthest" distance and that you're not looking for a studio strobe that must be mounted on a light stand. Two models of electronic flash provide the greatest distance coverage: (a) Metz 60 CT-4 (or CT-1) (b) Sunpak 622 Super Pro Both have GN ratings of 197 (in feet @ ISO 100). Both are also "handle mount" potato mashers (also called flash handles). The Metz *must* be powered by a separate battery "slab" that's worn over the shoulder using a shoulder strap. Although the Sunpak can be powered by "C" cells in a battery box mounted to the front of its handle, I don't recommend it. Recycle time is much too long. Sunpak also makes a couple of battery slabs that can be used with it. -- John
