AF problem with EOS 1Ds Mark III?

I'm thinking to upgrade my EOS 5D to 1Ds Mark III. However, I've just heard from someone who sent their 1Ds3 in to Canon for a viewfinder fix. 24hr turnaround and the "Prism assembly realignment".
Also the rumor that 1Ds mark IV will be released in Feb 2009. Can any user of 1Ds Mark III, share your experiences on yr equipment?

Actually what I heard was that it was the 1D III that had the auto focus problem when it was first released. Which is funny to me because to so many it made the camera unusable. And that the problem with the 1Ds was a picture quality problem when it first came out.
I'm sure that there will be a newer version of the 1Ds that will be released. You don't need rumors, just look at what's always happened in the past. A new, smaller framed camera gets the same mp number as an old version of a higher end camera. Then a new version of the higher end camera comes out with a higher mp count than before.
So, since the new 5D has been given the same mp count as the old 1Ds III(even though they are both full frame), expect something to be done to make the current 1Ds better, into a 1Ds IV.
Maybe not necessarily a jump in pixel count, but maybe a refinement in picture quality. As there have been articles written that the jumps in pixel count are approaching a point of actually working against picture quality. And that companies are looking less at megapixels and more and refinement.

But, so far as I've heard, is that the problems were fixed in both models, and that it was something that was in the first few months of coming out. I don't believe the people who waited a little while, either because of money or waiting to see what others thought, had the problems with them.

Used one on a fashion shoot in SF and loved it (cue angelic music now) I'm bummed I own 2 1Ds MarkII's. The camera doesn't feel too much lighter but the screen is friggen HUGE. Models Loved seeing the images on the viewfinder. After 4 years I still have to fiddle with my buttons to change settings and the new 1Ds series is so much easier to change settings...so user friendly is a HUGE bonus. I didn't get to bust out any low light photos but I hear its amazing in low light. I had NO focus problems and was able to change settings without anyone giving me a lesson...The guy that owned the studio bought 3 of the 1Ds MarkIII's and has nothing but positive comments...
