Preparing Image for a2 print - sharpening etc I have some lanscape images shot on Provia /Velvia which I have scanned on Imacon scanners at 5000dpi.The scanned images size is 16x24 inches(60x40cm)at 300dpi. I know I need to sharpen image before printing but no idea how much to sharpen it?(so it looks sharp in final print, but not over sharpened). ALso I might increase the size SLIGHTLY 20x30 inches(76x51 cm),but not sure how to increase the size so to retain image quality. Bicubic smoother, sharpener , constrain proprtions etc ,not really sure ! Any advice would be great Nathan I;m using PShop CS2

Open the image in Photoshop on your screen at 100% magnification, goto Filter –> Sharpen –> Unsharp Mask and play around with the sliders until you like what you see in the fullscreen preview. Have fun!

but sharpen after you resize I agree on using unsharp mask ... that's what I use When I upsize, I use Bicubic smoother I can't remember where I read it ... but I think it's in one of the super books I have laying around the house. It might be Photoshop for Photographers by Martin Evening. (this is all off the top of my head, so I might be wrong) There are a few steps to upsizing. Do a search on the forum here (I know we've covered it a few times). If you still can't find what you're looking for, or if you have more questions ask here.
