Files Suddenly Don't Open in PSE5 Editor

I'm hoping somebody has encountered this problem and solved it--or just knows what's going on!

I'm using PSE 5.0 and up to now (a few days since upgrading) I've had no problems.

Suddenly I can't open a file in the Editor. Nothing happens no matter how I try to open the file (from the Editor, or the Organizer, by clicking directly on the photo, etc. etc.)

This happens regardless of the photo I try to open. However, when I look at the drop-down list of "recently edited photos" the ones I've *tried* to open show up there!

I'm using Windows XP, SP2, have not added any new software, etc.

I *was* able to open a newly imported RAW file, and make RAW adjustments to it, but when I click on Open to edit it further in the Editor, nothing happens!

You need to find out whether PSE5, XP, or the files is/are the cause: can you open your files in another editor? Like in http://www.pl32.com/?

Well, a strange thing happened--when I turned on my PC this morning and went back to PSE 5.0, I tried once again to open and edit a file--and it worked! So far, at least.

The odd thing is that I'd closed the program and re-opened it several times yesterday, thinking maybe it was stuck on some commands. So, I don't know how turning off the power would have made a difference. Makes me a bit nervous .. particularly since another function wasn't working correctly, either.

Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed for now. Thanks much for the response, W.--I checked out pl32.com; it looks like a great little program!
