Uploading selective color image

How do you go about uploading an image that has selective coloring (done in Photoshop). I notice that the file size increases substantially as a result of selective coloring. I tried to upload to two different labs that I normally use (Mpix & Shutterfly) and both attempts resulted in failure. Where does everyone else get these prints from? Am I donig something wrong? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have never had a problem uploading an image with selective coloring, why should that make a difference?

Make sure the photo is a .jpg or .bmp. for .tff. Sites wont recongnize a photoshop file.

If you are working with layers to do your selective coloring, you will probably be saving the file as a PSD or other file type that allows layers (TIFF and PDF do as well).

For photo processing, you usually want to flatten your images and save as JPEG. This will do several things, including make the file MUCH smaller (please be sure to set compression to maximum QUALITY not maximum compression!). Smaller files will upload in less time. Do save your layered version of the file as well, as you may want to return to it to make changes.

I cover the whole process of image editing from monitor calibration through printing in my 8-week From Monitor To Print course.

By the way, I use a local lab for digital image printing. See color-tech.com
