Nikon 8800 I bought a Nikon Coolpix 8800 in Oct 04. Is it just me or has Nikon stopped supporting it? I wondering if I should by the D50 or D70s or digital rebel series? I shoot primarily land and seascapes as well a vacation photos. I spent a lot of money to have to buy a new camera after a year. Is it just the way of digital? Thanks.

Kathleen, I have the Nikon 5700 and had it repaired sometime after July 05. I hope they still repair them. I'm afraid I'm not much help but I hope a person doesn't need to buy a new camera every year or so. I tend to hang on to a camera upwards of 20 years as long as they function. Good question, maybe someone can tell us how long before Nikon quits repairing a digital camera.

Thanks Sharon. I'm like you. I still have my first camera, a Cannon T50. The Nikon is only my second. I was hoping to not have to buy another but it's not as flexible as I thought it would in terms of changing lenses. Maybe it will become my back-up.

Hi Kathleen, I bought the 8800 this summer - and sold it on e-bay 4 months later. I was not happy with it at all. And they had already discontinued it by the time I sold it. I don't think it's the way of digital, but it is the way of this particular camera.

Wish I could help - but I've never owned an slr... I went to the Fuji S5200 and I'm very happy.
