Photography Question

Combining images in Photoshop.

I recently viewed some work by a photographer who combined two shots of the same scene, one in sharp focus, the other out of focus, in photoshop to create a series of stunning and surreal images. I would love to try this technique on some of my local landscapes. Has anyone tried this? If so, can you tell me how to get started?

Micheal, I'm really not sure what effect you're after. I just can't picture it, can you either explain a tad more detail or does this photographer have a website or anything of the such? With this we might be able to help more.

Justin

Apparently, the technique is similar to sandwiching slides or the film technique of taking multiple exposures of the same image. I am interested in finding a way to replicate this process digitally. This photographer shoots slides, scans them, then combines the images in photoshop. I'll check to see if he has a web site. Thanks so much.
