beam-splitting metering system

I have a pentax k-1000 SLR-about 25 years old. I want to buy a polarized filter which turns round. I need to know if my camera has beam-splitting metering system. I no longer have the manual.
Thanks.

I'm not sure about the beam-splitting metering system. I know that the k-1000 meter is about as basic as it gets, yet it will give you decades of service, as yours has.

There are two types of polarizing filters, circular and linear (don't let the names confuse you, they are both round filters that you rotate to adjust - the names refer more to the way in which the light rays are filtered). When choosing which one to get, I think the only important consideration is whether you use it on a manual-focus or auto-focus camera. An auto-focus SLR needs a circular polarizer, since linear polarizers can interfere with the autofocus.

A manual focus camera, like your K-1000, should work with either type of polarizer.

Hi, I have a K-1000 and no it does not have a beam-spliting metering system. Just like Chris said, it's a very basic metering system.

I use a circular polarizer (the one that turns around) on my lens for this camera. This is my preference since I also have a AF Pentax camera and I tend to switch things out quite a bit. But either should work for your. Enjoy your camera! My grandfather has enjoyed this camera, my father has and no me! :-)
