Back drops How would one go about making thier own color back drops for portraits. and hang them behind the subject. Any creative ideas? In other words, materials I would need...and instructions on how to build a chanagble back drop.

I vote for old/white/flat sheets, dye, several dowels longer than the sheets and a couple hooks to unroll them from. Sounds cheap and unreflective to me....:-) Bob

Denise I have had clients ask for custom backdrops in certain coloors and rather than special order them made in canvas, which is expensive, we used seamless paper. You can buy a roll of seamless paper for about $50 and several cans of spay paint. One that I made was a light grey paper and I had black, white, and dark grey paints. You then start by spraying splotches of each color fairly close to each other so that you have a black, white, dark grey with some paper grey between. This can make a very cool custom background for shooting portraits. I make usre it is out of focus so that is gives a pleasant pattern. If you dont like what you did, you just roll out more paper. And you can but the paper and paints in any color.
