Skyline Pics from cruise boat on Lake Mich Hello. We will be going on a dinner cruise next month in Chicago, on Lake Michigan. I have had some problems getting good pictures of the skyline in the past with my Canon EOS 7E, and 25-200mm lens. Will be taking pictures during daylight and at night. Last year my night pictures all came back extremely blurred....Any suggestions/ideas? Thank you for your time!! JD

I have had similar problems when taking night pictures. I think it has something to do with the slow shutter speed which is set during this mode. A tripod or a steady arm is recommended to counter the bluriness. Others may have better advice. Nathan.

A tripod is almost a must for sharp night shots. The shutter speed is slower-- i.e., the shutter has to be open longer-- for the camera to get enough light to make a picture. If you can't bring a tripod, set the camera on a flat surface and don't touch it while it's taking the shot. If the boat is rocking, there's not much you can do. Nancy

An Image Stabilizing lens may help, depending on how long the exposure is.
