Last Alarm: Captain Michael Goodwin, Sr.

This week Philadelphia mourns the loss of its third firefighter in the past year. Captain Michael Goodwin died in the line of duty when the roof of a burning building in South Philadelphia collapsed, dropping 29-year veteran Goodwin into the inferno below.
---
In this view of the funeral procession, Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers and his distinguished officers march in front of Fire Engine 53, the "caisson" carrying the casket of the fallen firefighter to the church where he was married and in which his children were baptized. The Honor Guard rides with Captain Goodwin's casket.

I work with and am honored to know so many fire fighters and law enforcement officers. Its always such a sad day when we lose one in the line of duty. It is gut wrenching to see them come into the hospital and see the anguish of his comrades waiting to see if they will make it. This is so emotional and sad Michelle, but I am glad you brought the picture and story to us.
