Person in a Scenic Picture 1

See how the center of interest is divided between the people and the swan? They're not looking at the swan, so there's no connection. The little boy is slightly larger than quarter-sized, the man is even taller. It's become a portrait of them. The scene itself isn't much to look at, except for the swan. And there's a twig interfering with its head and neck.

A combination of your two shots is much better. There are people to draw us in and a scene across the way to look at. Try something like this, except make sure your man is no taller than the child is here.
