This was taken in Lakewood Ohio, in the pouring rain. Here are two other shots I took, but am not sure if they are worth working on-you can let me know.

That is some serious Christmas lights. I like the lighting in the first one. The sky seems a little to light in the second one. I think the rain drops could probably be cloned out, but I do not have much luck with this skill. I bet Dale could help you. Does everyone decorate like this?

Not everyone decorates like this. This was an especially nice display in Lakewood, which is a few cities east of where I live. The houses are older and have a lot of character!

"Does everyone decorate like this?" Thankfully NO! Takes me back to the days when the rest of the world shook their heads in disbelief when Detroit persuaded the folk of this great country that their automobiles should be the size of tennis courts with great pointy tail lights and hood ornaments. Let's show those neighbours that we can waste more resources than they can. Blessings from Mr Scrooge!

Nice work on these, Elaine. I really like your POV on the second image, but I agree, it's just a bit to bright to bring out the Christmas lights. I think it would be worth working on.

This kind of looks like Allison's house but I don't think she has ever had time to put up more than a few lights. I, too, like the first one best. If you have CS5 or above, you might be able to do an Edit>Fill>Content Aware with the default settings and see what happens.

Puts my single string of lights along the gutter to shame. As far as the spots, Debbie's advise is good but you don't need CS5. Photoshop Elements has that feature also and it should do the job.

Glad to hear that Dale. One of these days I will be looking at upgrading CS5 and because I don't have an educator's:discount anymore I may be looking into Elements.
