I'm finally getting back to my true passion Still Photography. I studied photography in the early 80's at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. My teacher for the zone system class actually worked with Ansel Adams. Somehow I ended up with a video camera on my shoulder to pay the bills. Editing and shooting video productions has taken up almost all my time for way to many years. I'm finally making some time to take still pictures again. Eventually I plan on traveling and photographing the USA and selling my work at Art Fairs and on a web site. I still feel a little rusty and need a bit more time before my photographic creativity is where I need it to be. With the price of fuel and until the economy turns around my great adventure is on hold.
My photogaphic interests lean toward shape and design, the study of light itself, and nature photography. Black and White photography is what I love the most. Although I am an excellent portrait photographer I prefer not to work in portraiture anymore. 25 years in the wedding business will do that to you.
Editing my photos in Photoshop 6 on the PC and Photoshop Elements on the Mac. and have not yet discovered everything photoshop can do. Joining this site and seeing the work of others and how they digitally manipulated their work is helping a great deal in this area. Hopefully I will make a few friends on this site who are not afraid to give me a little constructive critique. It seems most people here only give praise to shots they really like. I guess they don't want to bruise anyone's ego. It will make me a better photographer so tell me the truth, I can handle the bruised ego!
