I have had a natural affinity toward visual imagery, art, and graphics for as long as I can remember. My major study while attending the University of Houston was architecture while my minor study was in photography and received my BArch degree in 1980. While attending U of H, for several years I was a staff photographer for the daily university newspaper. Later I worked as a photographer for an outdoor advertising agency shooting with Yashica and Pentax 35mm and Mamiya medium format cameras. When asked, I photographed a few weddings for friends and acquaintances as well.
Upon graduation I moved to the Bay Area of Northern California and my photography profession was diminished to a hobby and I embarked on a career as an architect and I received my architectural license in 1984. In 1990 our family moved a few hours east to the beautiful foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s and I branched out into real property investments. In 1999 I semi-retired in order to take full time care of my mom who was afflicted with Alzheimer’s, until she passed away in 2005.
My photography hobby began to pick up steam over the last ten years after the digital era was ushered in which granted more creative flexibility and allowed the computer to be my darkroom. My passion was rekindled, I came around full circle, and photography is again my profession.
