Bio

I live in Cannock, Staffordshire, UK with my wife, Karen, and two daughters, Claire (4 years) and Eloise (16 months). I work as an analyst programmer for a finance company in Solihull. Prior to working in computing I completed a PhD in Genetics at Leicester University.

I have been interested in photography since the age of 4 when I went out with my toy twin lens reflex camera to take photographs of the area where we lived the day before we moved house. My Dad developed the black and white images - still some of my best pictures!

When I was 18 my parents bought me a Minolta XG1-N SLR to which I added a wide angle and telephoto lens and this has been my main camera, other than a couple of point-and-shoot models, until June 2005 when I 'went digital' with the purchase of a Casio EX P600. This has rekindled an interest that had taken a back seat for quite a few years!

I recently started the American Writers and Artists Institute Graphic Design and Photography courses, with the hope of building an extra income and possibly a new career path. I've been doing the courses for 2 months and most of the images in my gallery have been taken in this time.

Although I've had an interest in photography for many years this is the first time I've made any serious attempt to learn the basic photographer's skills, so am still really just a beginner and striving to improve, while keeping an eye open for saleable images so that I can try to build an extra income from my new skills (as and when they develop!)
