Unique design elements seem to draw me in. I'm always searching for new ways to look at design and nature. That's probably the reason I tend to capture many Asian art themes because they run the entire spectrum from serenity to outrageous color. Then there's my cat, Java. Sometimes he gets a bit tired of being chased around the house with a camera, but most of the time he's simply sleeping. Downtown Long Beach, California and its shoreline also get a lot of my attention. I started my hobby as a 1950s teenager with a box camera, later a 35mm rangefinder then on to a 4x5 view camera and an unrecalled aerial camera in the Army during the 60s. The 70s introduced me to a variety of Minolta SLRs. The 90s moved me to Nikon SLRs, and I entered the digital world a few years ago with a Nikon 2MP Coolpix. My first Olympus was the Camedia C-60 followed by the Olympus C-8080, then on to an Olympus Evolt E300 SLR and a Nikon D80. I now use a Canon G11 for all of my work. Currently my professional photo work is devoted to architectural photography as an independent contractor. A Casio Exilim Z75 is my pocket camera. I'm a member of SAG, the Screen Actors Guild, which allows me to watch some great cinematographers at work. Although I miss the smells of developer, acetic acid, and fixer chemicals of my photo lab days, I now prefer to do my lab work right here at my PC. No more lab towels, yellow finger-tips, and groping in the dark. For the film purists who claim we cheat...we only do in dry daylight what you do in the wet dark.
Happy clicking!
