I love long exposures!Five minutes, ten minutes, if I can make a photo out of stars, car lights, anything that's moving , the turning of the earth, that's where I'll have my camera set up. Astronomical photography got me into this, and with the use of Photoshop I've got the tools to make invisible things visible. I've always dreamed of showing the Milky Way rising over Monument Valley or popping through Delicate Arch, and since I started that work many good things have come to me. It's difficult to make a truly original photograph. Photographic ideas are worked and reworked so often that even the good ones get soft, like overcooked broccoli. Yet, when a good one strikes, it's a feeling in the gut, it feels right, and after some work, it starts to look right in the photo. That's why I love digital so much: I can refine an idea until I've got that gut feeling and I know it.
