My name is Doug Cockburn & I have been living in northern Ontario Canada since the fall of 1999, when after 40 years of service in the industry, I retired from the CTV television network in Vancouver BC as a robotic cameraman.
Photography has been my passion for longer then I can remember, photographing everything from formula one racing, weddings, portraits, nature photography, along with wildlife, old barns, flower gardens & macro photography.
I delight in capturing fleeting moments in the ever-changing seasons. The struggle between the man-made world and the natural world fascinates me as nature attempts to reclaim its ground.
One of my favorite places which dominate my work & to take colorful & peaceful scenes is Vermillion Lake & the more we open our minds & hearts the more our eyes can see the hidden beauty of this great land.
I hope you find something in my images here that pulls at your heart the way they pull at mine.
I’ve had the pleasure of having a couple of my photos taken around Vermillion Lake area, published in the national magazine “Our Canada” August issue of 2005 & July of 2008. I also have just recently had Nikon Japan purchase the right to use my photo (Forming The Solar System) on their wed site.
All of my photographs are taken with a Nikon D70 digital single lens reflex camera. More of my work is available for your viewing pleasure at my other Web site at: www.cockburnphotography.com
