My introduction to digital photography began a number of years ago when the journalism teacher at the high school I worked at offered a short course in digital photography after school! I started out with a Minolta DiMage F100, moved up to owning both the Canon 30D and 40D and most recently acquired a full-frame dslr: the Canon Mark II 5D.

I also do a lot of "dabbling" in Photoshop CS5 but still consider myself self-taught on the ins and outs of Photoshop.I have taken several BP classes and have noticed a vast improvement in the quality of my images making many on-line friends along the way. I am in a critiquing club here at BP and have learned so much from my peers. There is so much to discover about both taking and editing pictures and it is that learning that excites me and spurs me on.

Photography is a process that has allowed me to see so much more than I ever did before - and in such unique ways.

Here are just a few of my favorite photography quotes:

You don't take a photograph, you make it. ~ Ansel Adams

Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I'm going to take tomorrow. ~ Imogene Cunningham

When the shutter closes, the world opens - Sharon Wax

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep! - Scott Adams

Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst. ~ Henri Cartier-Bresson

You've got to push yourself harder. You've go to start looking for photographs nobody else can take. You've got to take the tools you have and probe deeper. ~ William Albert Allard

Twelve significant photographs in any on year is a good crop. ~ Ansel Adams

A good snapshot stops a moment from running away. ~ Eudora Welty

The goal is not to change your subjects but for the subject to change the photographer. ~ Unknown

Buying a Nikon doesn't make you a photographer. Buying a Nikon makes you a Nikon owner. ~ Unknown

Sometimes I get to a place just when God is ready to have someone click the shutter. ~ Ansel Adams
