In the old gum tree
Uploaded: March 25, 2010
Actually, I'm pretty sure this is neither old nor a gum tree and I haven't gone to Australia recently -- but it IS a kookaburra and what a pretty bird it is. I took the photo in the Desert Dome at the Henry Doorly Zoo.

Excellent Vikki! No, it isn't a gum tree but that definately IS a Kookaburra. Aren't they such handsome birds! We have them sitting on the fence but I can never get them. Always too far away. ~Pat #8479232Courtenay Vanderbilt March 25, 2010

Beautiful capture of this magnificent bird! Terrific tonal qualities and detail. I stood beside a couple of them at the Rio Grande Zoo in Albuquerque and was just enthralled by their beauty and their sound. Viva las Kookaburras!
