Twisted Papantla Flyer at Trade days in TN
Uploaded: June 27, 2005
This flyer was one of five that perform a ritual that involves them climbing at 60-100ft pole, tying themselves to a rope and when ready drop and unravel, while going around the pole, to the bottom. The last of the five is still playing a flute and a small drum and he comes down last. It was cool.

Thanks everyone for the comments. This is something I have not seen before and it was very interesting. The four rope swingers represent the four directions. They also had a speaker down below dressed in native clothing and he blew a conk shell to tell them to get ready. #1528104Sue L. Cullumber October 20, 2005 0
