Elements Of Design - January 2010
This innovated design of steel and glass amalgamated with clean geometric shapes and decorative surfaces can be found at the Niagara Falls Fallview Casino/Resort's Rotunda Entrance.
If you look beyond the gray/purpley curved steel bars, notice the vibrant blue glass like tunnel above... it is actually called a porte-cochere(coach gate or carriage porch). This architectural term for porch or portico-like structure are usually found at main entrances. The purpose is too make it possible so that horse and carriage (1900's) or motor vehicles could drop off their passengers under cover, protecting them from weather. This porte-cochere leads into the glass enclosed galleria.

Hi Christine,Absolutely beautiful.Wish I could get color like this.Stunning capture indeed!!!! #8333739Christine Lobsinger January 27, 2010
Hi Bobby, THANK YOU very much! I appreciate your kind comments. This casino has the most impressive architecture I've ever seen, and the colour of the steel and skylights are all magnificant blue/purpley gray colour, but what I do is up the saturation to around +10 and up the contrast sometimes anywhere inbetween +2 - +9... sometimes I tone down the brightness, but in this particular instance only to -3.Smiling ChriS #8333757
