What did that say??? Lindau, Germany

Uploaded: June 04, 2005

Description

Germany has an interesting habit of mixing 'english' into it's signage and advertising. Sometimes it doesn't work too well...

The sign says it all, I just needed someone to look back at the sign.

Literally translated it means

Welcome to
Lindau
at the Happy-End of Germany

What they mean by 'happy-end' is anyone's guess.....

Interesting image, Kevin!!! I'm glad you translated it for us! Naturally the only part I could understand was am Happy-End, and I kinda knew what von Deutschland meant. I like the fact you caught someone walking across the frame when you released the shutter! #258775

Initially I cursed as I couldn't get a clear shot of it, there were lots of people walking past and getting in the way - then it dawned on me that there was more than just the sign needed...

Good for a laugh, anyway! #1435645
