America's Oldest Farmers' Market

Uploaded: October 28, 2009

Description

Central Market located on Penn Square in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is the nation’s oldest farmers’ market. Area farmers have been bringing their produce to this location since 1730. The current building was constructed in 1869 in the Romanesque Revival style. Inside, you can purchase everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to Pennsylvania Dutch sausage and scrapple – Amish dolls to ornaments made from hand-carved cookie molds. Don’t miss it if you travel to central Pennsylvania. It’s truly a feast for all the senses.
