Fritz the Frog
Uploaded: October 17, 2009
Hello. I’m Fritz the Frog, pleased to meet you. By now, I suspect you’ve met my cousin, Frederick. You know, Fred the Frog, of SuperGlue fame. He’s not the brightest frog in the forest, though perhaps you’ve already noticed that fact. We grew up together, Fred and I. My parents died when I was a wee frog. No, it’s ok. I’ve learned to cope with the loss.

Anyway, my mom’s sister took me in, and she and my uncle raised me. As young lads, Fred and I were inseparable, as tight as two frogs in a leaf. That started to change when my teachers discovered that I was color blind. Aunt Frances figured it was because my mom traveled right up until I was born. Frances never held her sister in very high regard, finding her travels to be ‘foolish’ and ‘whimsical.’ Frankly, I suspected she was just jealous, having spent her entire life on the same bush she was born on.So where was I? Oh yes, Aunt Frances. She never liked me much, and liked me even less when she learned of my condition. She simply couldn’t understand how any self-respecting frog could find himself in such a state, as though I had invited this particular malady.
Now I have this uneasy feeling that Aunt Frances duped me. It all started when she came to me one day, and handed me the keys to my own apartment. An apartment? She had never given me so much as a birthday card, and here I was, holding keys to my own place. In the city, even…as though she understood how small my world seemed, trapped as I was on that little bush in the country.
So here I am, in my spacious penthouse pad in the city. With this great environment, I should be blending right in. Somehow, though, I feel as though I stick out like a black rabbit in a white snow bank. #1193236

Tess...you have a "Wind in the Willows" sort of story telling style. Apart from that, I'm convinced that you are the reincarnation of a frustrated tree frog.Gord MacEachern October 17, 2009
Fantastic image and wonderful story Tess,I am sure we will see Fritz again.Kathy Cline October 17, 2009

Thank you Michelle, Gord, Kathy, Tammy, and Carolyn for those really great comments! When the squirrels wouldn't cooperate, I headed over to shoot a hibiscus or two. Saw this bright spot of green on one, and discovered this guy! Of course, it was nearly dusk, and he was sitting on the bloom furthest from me...so I had to wedge myself into the bush!
(and no, I'm not a writer...unless you count here at BP!) #8044891
