I tried our monthly theme out at a parade last weekend...not an easy technique to master, thats for sure..I thought these were two of my better efforts.. #1183604

great shots Tony, I love the Dynamic Band one its like the music is coming right out of them in a way we can see it and not just hear it. I love it! super job, to much fun. #7972954

I love these Tony. The one of the Redcoats is my favorite. Did you twist the zoom to get this effect? #7972974

Anthony L. Mancuso September 23, 2009

Thanks Rita and Susan..the lens I used is an older one and actually uses a push and pull motion to zoom out and in, but yes, that is exactly what I did...used f32 0.40 seconds to keep the shutter open long enough to achieve the effect.. #7973886

Great shots for the monthly challenge. I especially like the first one! All the squiggly lines remind me of notes and it's like you captured the music along with the marching band. :~) #7974084

Teresa H. Hunt September 23, 2009

Tony, I love the second shot. The squiggly lines in the first were pretty distracting for me . . . not that I want to disagree with Aimee. :) #7976761

Disagree all you want...it's art...what one loves the other will hate! :~) #7976905

YOU'RE KILLING ME HERE! #1 - way too much motion for me with those squiggly lines. Makes me seriously nauseous. Actually like #2. I can look at it for about 15 seconds before I get dizzy. I like how you can focus in on the band and then the effect just adds more drama to the image. Very nicely done, Tony! #7979996

Thanks Chrisite...I'll send you some Zofran (strong nausea medicine) the next time I post some like this...fear not though, the month is almost over and our next topic is a bit more docile... #7980163

This was a fun but dizzy challenge. Great job Tony. I like the RedCoats but the Dynamic Band is my favorite. The trees look like they are exploding with the music. #7980587

Debbra Bailey September 24, 2009

Love the first shot Tony - it turned out great! #7980995

Anthony L. Mancuso September 24, 2009

Thanks Ellen and Debbra, it was fun and challenging getting them...I plan on entering both in the monthly theme.. #7981246

I agree Tony - both have their own merits many of which were mentioned in the comments. Enter them both as you said. Both are really fun. #7981458
