This is a very hard task, SSSLaura. I can't choose.
They're both so very beautiful.
I absolutely LOVE the way you composed it viewing this magnificent landscape through the reed. And I'm very impressed with the depth and the colors.
FANTASTICO!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see why you are tired from camping, you were over intoxicated from all the beauty. #7849843

Monnie Ryan August 15, 2009

Both just gorgeous, Laura -- if I have to cast a vote, I'll go for the first one. But it's pretty much a toss-up. Great job! #7850002

Stephen Zacker August 15, 2009

Like the depth this has. What a view. #7850254

Last to first:

Jack-Path, I think that's a shadow dancer but until now I only thought it
was a local legend! WOW! (HA!)

Hi SZ. It's was a WORMS EYE for sure. Now that I'm back home, I'll be working on grass stain views. (sigh)...

Mr. Tree...YES there WAS a bear! They had warning signs out all over. It was spooky and tons of people had seen the one hanging out at the little lake...I, on the other hand was CLEVER and DIDN'T WEAR MY BELLS! That way he couldn't find me and eat me! HA! (GREAT TIP!)

*

Thanks Monnie! I think I agree with you!

*

Ron, it was great! In high elevations, the weather is VERY changeable. We got rain half of the time but the one sunny day I went for it with the photos! :) MORE TO COME! (SOON THIS WILL BE YOU!)

*
Thanks Dave. Me, too!

*
Thanks Tammy-Girl and Tiia Girl!

*
Hi Gord! You sure might have been. This is actually part of the Bow Valley National Park Campground. :)

*
Thank you Chris. I know. It really was a toss up so I posted both. I read that BP doesn't much care for the soft edges while judging...but in certain instances I think they are really pretty! :)

*
Hi SSSKiki!! You are so sweet, my sister! The grasses there and reeds really were a bonus. I remember saying, "WOW", right before I took this one. The Rockies are so gorgeous. It's fun to work out COMPS while shooting. Lots to work with!

*
Thank Julianne! I did too! :)

*
Lynne, your comment gave a me a huge smile. That's a really nice compliment for me. Thank you!!! :)

*
Oh Earl-y Pearl. When you sigh, the world sighs with you! HA!

Thank you all so much! What a great way to wake up. To positive feedback and seeing you all here!

Wonderful Shot!
Like the grass (so small and then the mountains!) #7850846

Kerry Hill August 15, 2009

Gorgeous scenery, beautiful composition and colours Laura!! #7850907

Denny E. Barnes level-deluxe August 15, 2009

Beautiful capture, Laura! Excellent color, light and composition! I like the hard edge better. To me for some reason the soft edge doesn't look as bright and seems to lose some of the color but that's just me. #7850937

Laura E. Swan level-classic August 15, 2009

Hey, well, this is good to get your input here on the edges, guys! Thanks Denny and the rest who commented about them.

I liked the grasses, as well, Wm! That river was really wide, too, so it was ALL a bit of an optical illusion!!!

Tammy and Kerry, it really IS beautiful there! I don't remember there being that many Rockies in that area but there are! It was a really great surprise!

SO WAS THE BEAR! HA! Didn't seem him but he was LOOMING. We were told to be BEARY BEARY careful! ALL the campers were on HIGH ALERT!

Thanks again! -Laura :) #7850950

Karen Kessler August 15, 2009

It's so beautiful & it looks like a painting! The colors POP! :) #7851254

Ann Coates level-classic August 15, 2009

Just beautiful Laura. I love the grasses in the front with the beautiful mountains behind. Gorgeous Laura. #7851315

ROLAN NARMAN August 15, 2009

Love both images Swanie! Gorgeous place you have there! I'm jealous! Hope you had a great time dear! #7851357

Laura E. Swan level-classic August 15, 2009

Thank you Karen, Ann and Rolan. :)

I'm so tickled that you guys like this one and also like my area.

HEY! Let's gang up on BP and tell them we want the next summit to be in Banff! Or even less expensive, "Canmore"...Just East of the park gates...Nice SWISS type of town...LETS DO IT!

WANT TO??? -(S) Laura :)

Thank you again! #7851402

Stefania Barbier level-classic August 15, 2009

WOW, that beauty is not just in the breeze, its everywhere up there Lala!! This is so gorgeous!! Love the composition!! Those mountains are stunning as is the river!! I sure hope we see this one again!! #7853475

Laura E. Swan level-classic August 16, 2009

Hi Stef!!! Thanks lady! I need to visit your gallery. We haven't seen much of each other in a while. :)

HEY! BOTH of my BP buddies that call me Lala commented next to each other. I thought I would pause a moment to reflect on this and smile. :)

Hi Teresa! Gosh you are so right. I was born and raised close to San Francisco, an iconic place of beauty...but never have I seen more majesty than the Canadian Rockies. They are so beautiful and I am happy to share them with you.

I hope we see this one again, too, Teresa. :) I keep throwing darts on the board here at BP. Something has to be a bulls eye. I keep waiting! :)

Thank you both again! -Laura :) #7853534

John Connolly August 16, 2009

I am probably a bit old fashioned Laura, but I prefer the hard edges. Having said that, it is a glorious scene, beautifully captured! I would love to visit there, but I feel I have left my run a bit late! #7853829

Ellen Hodges August 16, 2009

Gorgeous capture, Laura! Each image is soooo gorgeous! You get the bull's eye on this one in my opinion!! #7854249

Laura E. Swan level-classic August 16, 2009

I hear you, John! Okay...Hard edge it is for this one, too!!! I agree with your vote. Well, if the horse has already left the gate and you don't see Canada in your cards, then please stop in any time you'd like to enjoy the Canadian Rockies! You are very welcome here. Feel free to bring a MOOSE MAILBOX with you!

Gosh Ellen! Thanks lots!!! To hear you say BULLS EYE really makes me feel great. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I needed that!!!
