Description

This was trying different things to see what works because I have no clue as to what I am doing, I know I crop, I ovelayed a sunbeach/ocean picture that is what help me get the ripples in the water. I like the way it cast the light on the building and the seagulls. then I brighten it up some.

Very pretty colors and was wondering how you got the ripples in the water. Gosh there is tons to learn with PS...any version! #7735230

Thanks so much Michael and Susan, if you look close there are alot of area that need more work right in the center. but I am still at the wee baby stage of doing this... Yes Michael I do love this exercise it has made me move faster than I probably whould have. I am really enjoying the challenge. My problem is I am sitting at my computer more than I ever have but on the other hand I have more time now than I ever have. So it looks like I win no matter what...Yea! I do have a question Michael I actually lay the ocean/sunset right on top I didn't send it to the back, is there a way to take section of it off if I had wanted to. I think it was you who had talked about using the eraser do I have to do something first to be able to erase. #7735503

You should not have to do anything special to erase. The eraser tool just acts like a mask on the layer you are erasing allowing the layer below to show. Actually I hardly ever use the eraser tool as masks are more precise and have lots more options for adjustment, but a quick erase of a large are will work fast and easy if that is what you need on a particular shot. #7735708

WTG Rita!! You are advancing in leaps and bounds with your processing skills. As you said, it just takes getting in there and trying things.

I like the way you left the light reflecting on the building. Mike is right about using masks but in the meantime, an adjustment like this is very easily done with an erasure and is a quick and easy way to learn how to separate areas.

If you still have this image and the new sky layer above it, simply click on the layer with the new sky, select the erasure tool, go to the bar above and set the feathering to make it soft, and the opacity to make the adjustment not so severe, and erase the parts you don't want to overlap on the original image.

You'll see how easy it is as you try it. If you make a mistake, just click on control + Z to undo what you've just done. Have fun. #7752733

Thanks so much Michael and Dale I haven't gotten a chance to mess with it but will try and post it.

Dale I think I'll just keep to howling no sling-shot for me. #7752950

Rita I love the colors in the sky for this image! I use PSE and often use the erasure tool to remove unwanted areas of a layer. Note: You must select the layer you want to erase and also use a soft erasure. If you have the bottom layer selected it won't look like it is doing anything. :~) #7754970

thanks Aimee that explain when I was doing it, it seem like it wasn't doing anything. I need to work on the reflection in the water now. #7755113
