Looks like an old weathered memory! Interesting take on this image! :~) #1151071Michael Kelly July 07, 2009
Good description Aimee - like an old photo left in an non acid free album untouched for many years. A fun and interesting interpretation. #7716085Dale Hardin July 07, 2009
Nice "battle scarred" look Bobby. Never would have thought of that, but glad you did. #7716292Bobby R. Strange July 07, 2009

Thanks Jodi and Anthony. I'll look back at the psd's tomorrow and see if I can remember what all I did. Too tired to think right now ...must...have...sleep! :) #7720178Susan M. Reynolds July 09, 2009
Awesome job on the editing. I too would love to know how you did the old effects. It is wonderful!Bobby R. Strange July 09, 2009
Thanks, Susan! :) Ok ok, let's see what I can remember...I started off with the sky. I lowered the overall brightness on the pic to see what the sky looked like. Turns out it was really pretty! So I used a layer mask to keep the sky darker. Then I used a gaussian blur to soften the sky because there were a lot of jpg artifacts floating around. It really helped.
Next I used the sponge tool to punch up the saturation on the parts of the pic I wanted...the sky...the grass...the water. Got them looking pretty :)
Then I started with my texture. I have a TON of textures, but for this one I used a basic old paper texture. I tried different blends, but turns out multiply looked best. Left the opacity at 100%. The paper layer was the top one.
Then I brightened the photo layer underneath the texture to bring it out because the paper layer darkened it quite a bit. I also played around with the saturation of the photo a bit more to bring it out...especially the blue in the sky and water.
Once I got the texture looking just right, I adjusted the color balance to get rid of the overall green cast.
After that it was just finishing touches. Dodging a little bit and burning around the edges to even out the vignette.
That's basically it :) #7722239
