Description

Take a couple days ago. Just a sample of the view prior to the "Office Fog Lights" series. The flakes got as large as 1-2 inches.

I like this one Gary. I like 'em all. Is this photo sharpened? #24493

As Luann would say, Omigaw! Now this is COLD (but very beautiful)! I hope you live close to your office, and have great traction on your tires. Really love this image, Gary - looks like it should be on a set of notecards. #60537

I used just enough unsharp mask to bring it back to original sharpness after shrinking it, but I checked it out after seeing your comment and it appears that either better photo did something very strange to it or it got messed up somehow during the upload (which would be very unusual). My version doesn't have the patterns in it. I'm going to upload it again to the discussion and see what happens. #60538

Lem, it looks right this time! I uploaded the very same file and it came through without distortion this time. Very strange! #60542

Love this, Gary. #60563

Another Great one Gary... Shirley #60587

And I thought all the big flakes were in Texas (read Enron) :0) Nice shot, Gary. Looks like you were getting close to white-out conditions. The trees and hill give it a nice soft composition. #60624

Gary; this is snow!! I do not know if I could survive that weather. But Your photos are beautiful, and I still want to go there.[ with a fur coat] Viveca. #60657

Gary, I love the atmosphere of your photo. You've really captured snowy weather's mood! Well done! #60690

Cathy M. Gromball May 26, 2019

Wonderful, moody shot, Gary! That's what it was like here last night - I love the big fluffy flakes!

Murry: Too funny!

Wow Gary! And I just heard that Alaska was warm and sunny this week? I guess they were wrong! I hope that you reshoot a lot of your pictures during the different seasons. It would be interesting to see the same places at different times of the year. I'm sure they would be just as stunning without snow as they are with! #60842

Janelle; Actually, as in this case, when its snowing like this in Valdez its usually above freezing. Also, I live 13 miles from my office, but since this kind of snow is quite normal for Valdez I'm well prepared as you can see from the attached photo of my tires :-)

Murry; These flakes are definitely a different kind. Unlike the Enron flakes they're very quiet and you don't hear the crying and squeeling as they fall ;-)

Viveca; I don't think you'd have any trouble surviving the snowfall...its the shoveling afterwards that kills you! Thank you for your nice comment :-)

Mette; the thing that seems to set the mood the most during a heavy snowfall like this is the silence! It has a way of damping both direct and reflected sound and can be very peaceful. Thanks for your comment!

Cathy; Thank you! I'm glad to hear you guys are sharing some of the snow load! We can use all the help we can get :-)

Rick; Thank you very much!

Ron; We had all of 30 minutes of Sunshine day before yesterday but it has been pretty warm. I like your weatherman better than ours! I've had a lot of requests to show the comparison between winter and summer on a lot of these scenes so I'll have to make it a point to do at least a few of them. Thank you for your kind comment :-) #60912

Beautiful, Gary! Nice tires too. #64226

Thanks Carol! This one had problems somewhat like the one you were struggling with. It came out quite distorted on the first upload for some reason. The second worked OK though. #65305
