How would you have shot this differently? Or would you have shot it at all! #1141414

Well, first I assume that the sun was shining thru the windows, hence them being slightly washed out. I would have taken the exposure down possibly
-2 and then see the details. It all depends on what you see in the LCD on the back of the camera. when you have a moment take a look at a couple of shots of my windows #7919453

Hi Stan! Thanks so much for visiting, I appreciate it and your comments. On my monitor I am not sure that I am seeing the image as a little washed out. I took a look at the original's histogram and while it shows the black end kind of bunched up, the whites don't appear to be clipped so I don't think I have lost any info there. I think I could have selectively added a bit of saturation but otherwise it looks very much like what I think I was seeing in the church but as it was many months ago that is open to debate. I do remember that the detail in the white of Christ's halo and the head covering of the woman(Mary Magdelan?)was rather faint and my wife who is a professional artist explained at the time that the colors in this window are painted on, not as with some windows individual pieces of brightly colored glass with the colors mixed inside the glass while still in the molton atate. and the glass is a couple of hundred years old!
As for your second point, I have to say I never use the LCD on the camera to compose the shot or even to check it afterwards. My Canon is only a few years old but it not only has a small screen but when I compare it with friends cameras with later technology I can see just how dull it is.
I did look at your windows Stan and agree they are much brighter and sharper so I must try harder!

Peter, thanks, to me and my monitor just a shade darker, but then again monitors rule lol/jk. I only use my LCD monitor to have a look to see what the image is like, and as you know sometimes what you see on the LCD and then put on your screen is always different, thanks for your comments #7922988
