Abridgment

Uploaded: May 22, 2009

Description

What I did here was cropped the image tightly (using only part of the building) and darkened the black areas and used levels to brighten the whole image. I also used saturation up to +20 for the brick colour change.
I wanted to have a caption that really worked with this image so I found a word that I never used before: Abridgment.
A noun meaning, that which has been shortened; an abstract.

Ahoy *CHRISTINE*!

Firstly my heartiest Aussie congratz for this fine architectural abstract being awarded an EP.
It really stood out to me as I cruised your gallery and on closer inspection I was delighted to find not only a good composition but a lot of exquisite detail.
The parallel diagonal lines set the image, the converging and diverging lines give the image its abstraction and the wonderful 'tinkling' brick detail brings it all to life.
The colours and toning then add their warmth.
Be proud!

I love your gallery. Again I am a sucker for great lines and flow in a picture.

The contrast in this picture adds great visual tension. I am surprised in only got an editors pick.
