Hi Candy:

Thank you for answering my question about traveling abroad. The Digital Wallet or Nixvue sounds great. Where would I be able to obtain something like that? Do you have to get it at a photo shop or do electronic shops carry them? That's a terrific idea!

I love the your Canada goose photo. I am the Founder of LOVE CANADA GEESE so obviously, I love goose photos. I love the pose you have him in and his sleepy look.

Thanks once again!

Hi Choo-

There are several different brands available. I have a Compact Drive PD7X which I got from a discount website (www.mydigitaldiscount.com). It was a little tricky to figure out how to use because of a poorly written manual tho. You can also find them on Ebay or other camera web sites but you have to be careful because many places sell them without a hard disk installed so that would be an extra expense and if you don't feel comfortable installing it yourself look for a unit that includes it. You also need to be sure that it is a portable hard drive with a compact card reader and either takes rechargable AA batteries or a lion battery.

Office Depot carries one that is called Smartdisk FotoChute which has everything included. You can get them online (www.officedepot.com) or possibly in a local Office Depot store if they stock them. Another place on line is www.transcendusa.com. There are also units made by Nixvue, one called Digital Wallet, another called Media Pal, and Vosonic.com makes a highly rated unit but you will have to deal with overseas shipment because that one is based in England.

One of these unit will run you about $200 for 20GB of memory. That initially might seem steep but if you figure a 1GB compact flash card costs about $100 it is worth it. And you can get larger memory if you want. I would rather use one of these devices than risk having a 4GB card malfunction and lose that many photos.

Be sure to try it out before the trip to make sure you know the system of uploading for your unit. You might also get a bit more scrutiny going through airport security as they might find the unit to be a bit suspicious so I would bring the manual with you to show them to verify what it is.

Sorry this is so long but I wanted to give you as much info as I could squeeze in. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks for the kudos on my goose picture. This one was very tolerant of my snapping lots of photos of him.

Thanks, Candy, for the details. Thanks for warning me about airport security! I'll be sure to carry the manual.

I'll check out our stores, see what they may have. I live in Canada and we don't have quite the selection you guys do in the States, unfortunately. Often we have to buy our stuff from the US because it's just not available up here or way too expensive. So I'll see what I can find.

I like the idea of having 20GB of memory or more! I have a tendency to take photos at highest res, thus taking up lots of memory on my card.

Thanks once again for your help!
