Great shot! Can you tell us which Nikon camera/flash was used? Was this taken in raw or jpeg? I gather that this was taken in the camera manual mode? How did you determine the correct exposure/shutter speed? Has there been any post processing? #1407500

Hi Locket,

I used Nikon D1X and Nikon Flash SB80DX. It was taken in raw mode so that I could still have a chance to edit better. The exposure was based on the available light, so, I set the normal meter to the background / the cloud/sky. Certainly her face will then be dark, so I did fill in her face with the flash, but not frontally. I pointed the flash to the (swing?) right hand side, with manual mode flash and reduced the power by 2 stops (If I am not mistaken). I hope this explains well.

I think the bluish-gray clouds were perfect for this shot. I don't think you get as good of a shot with a bright blue sky. The skin tones are absolutely rich, and her blouse really makes this image great, especially a very nice warm tone to contrast the dull sky. Well done! #1408207

I hope the fire ants didn't get you, while taking this shot. The fire ants in rice fields can be very vicious, as I found out last year in the Philippines, taking some rice field landscape photos, while wearing sandals. #1408216
