Thanks Meghan. Our friend has had a double mastectomy and will be undergoing reconstruction. Things are going well for her. A bunch of women at her church turned up each Sunday with a variety of headgear to support her and then hit on the idea of having a competition to see who could create the best hat. Members of the congregation voted and pledged money to help her.
I am a little surprised that you are the only one who has commented on the hat images. I was thinking that there might be some reaction in recognition that this image represents a young woman battling cancer which affects so many thousands of women. I am hoping that it isn't that our members are nervous of recognising that cancer touches all our lives in some way or another. I am an eleven year survivor of colon cancer and I had hoped that in 2009 we had reached a level of maturity that no longer is too shy to mention cancer and body parts. Perhaps I didn't explain fully enough what these images are all about. #7632216

I think that's awesome how they supported her. Support can go a long way. I know because I have Cystic Fibrosis.
I had a friend who died of cancer, my sister's friend is a cancer survivor and my dog is dying of lung cancer.
You explained about the image wonderfully. I think BP just isn't about joining forces for a cause, it's just about the images and that could be why there has not been any comments on your photo. (It's a great photo)

Thank you kindly Meghan. In a couple of hours I shall be taking part in an annual Relay for Life event in aid of the American Cancer Society. It is held on our local high school running track. We raise many thousands of dollars and encourage each other as survivors and the community participates. It is 95F here at the moment so I am rather glad it is not a race as such but rather a protracted amble which goes on till 6am tomorrow. Most folk do a few laps then party for a while then do a few more laps. There are usually around thirty teams participating that local businesses, churches etc form for the event.
I will email you over the weekend. #7649774
